This year SIEDC launched a new television series on CTV. The show serves as a vehicle for the SIEDC to publicize informative news and updates to the Staten Island community and beyond. Cesar Claro, SIEDC’s President & CEO, serves as the host of the show, interviewing key SIEDC members, high-profile supporters and elected officials that are invited on the show as special guests. Past guests have included Richard Sabatini of SI Terminal, Bob Kelly of ERA Master Realtors, Ray Masucci of Raymond Homes, Inc, Assemblywoman Janele Hyer-Spencer, Bob Cutrona of Project-One Services, and more. Topics discussed include new plans for a waterfront restaurant at the Tides at Charleston; details on the progress of SI Terminal, New York State’s largest cement importation and distribution terminal; details on the establishment of a Staten Island Green Zone; an interview with Pamela Coppola, owner of Statewide Fire Corp., one of the first women owned businesses to surpass $1 million in annual revenue, winning an American Express Make Mine a $Million Business(TM) Award, and much more!

Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual SINY Film Festival starting next Wednesday, June 2nd!

Get on your polyester suits and disco dancing shoes as we celebrate this year’s festival with a ’70s theme. Besides bringing you back in time, we will of course provide you with 5 days of exciting, entertaining cinematic experiences from around the nation, as well as the Island.

General details for the festival are as follows (more info at www.sifilmfestival.org):

June 2 – 4, 2010 will be at the St. George Theatre

June 4 – 5, 2010 will be at the College of Staten Island

Closing Night, June 6th will be at the Vanderbilt at South Beach*

The first film of each day will begin at noon and the last film will end by midnight.

The Opening Night Film, “A Little Help” starring Chris O’Donnell and Jenna Fischer will commence at 7pm.

Films will be screened from June 2 – 5th; there will be no films screened on June 6th, only the Closing Night Party will be held that evening.

Ticket prices are as follows: Super Pass: $150 / Celebrity Party Ticket (6/5): $125 / Festival Screening Pass: $45 / All Day Screening Pass: $15 / Single Block Ticket: $10 Tickets and Passes are available at Ticketweb.com

Vote for SIEDC to win a grant through Intuit’s “Love a Local Business” contest!

SIEDC was recently nominated as an entrant in Intuit’s “Love a Local Business” contest. Each month, three businesses are randomly chosen from all of the eligible nominations. The more nominations a business has, the more chances they have to win a $5,000 small business grant. Intuit judges will then review the comments from the winning businesses in April, May and June to determine if the business you love will win the Grand Prize: small business grants worth $30,000.
